Hype and Hype Pro by Tumult are Mac OS X applications for creating keyframe-based HTML5 animations and interactive content which can be used on desktops, smartphones and iPads. Now we will coordinate the playback of the animation between the main and secondary timelines. In the two previous Hype for iBooks Author tutorials, we have created our first animation for our iBooks HTML widget in Hype.

In the last tutorial, we began working on a simple animation and exploring how to use the Record feature to create our animation.

You will soon realize that the tools in the Hype workspace control the CSS properties in our HTML5 based animation. Let’s start our first Hype document and see what happens. The best way to learn about animating in Hype is to create a simple animation, such as moving a circle across the screen. As the interactivity for babies is basically touching the screen, my client wanted this game to omit the option to choose colors and just display a color when the screen is touched. In the previous tutorial, we imported the images for a coloring game for iBooks Author that we are making in Hype Pro. We will continue by adding the elements that we will animate on the page. In the previous Hype for iBooks Author tutorial, we setup and added the background image for our iBooks page animation HTML widget. In this tutorial, we will explore the Metrics Inspector and how to manipulate an element on the screen. In the last tutorial, we created our first Hype Pro document and examined the Element Inspector. To use this feature, just click the big red Record button. Hype has a very nice feature for the beginning animator, called the Record feature. Introduction to Animation with Hype Record Tumult has a reasonable priced HTML5 animation software for the Mac, called Hype and Hype Pro.

In this tutorial, we will create an HTML animation widget that will play full screen in an iBook.

The example we are using is a gallery that I created for an iBooks Author project called Children’s Storybook Template User Guide. In this Hype for iBooks Author tutorial, we will build an interactive image gallery. Now we will explore how these terms apply to the Hype workspace and tools. In the past tutorial, we discussed the most common terms used in animation software. We will add the On Mouse Click action to the Back and Next buttons. In this Hype for iBooks Author tutorial, we will add the interactivity and animation that makes Hype widgets great for iBA. In the previous tutorial, we built a simple gallery in Hype for use in iBooks Author. In this Hype for iBooks tutorial, we will finish our Christmas animation page widget by creating a secondary timeline where we will animate a toy train to move across the scene and export our project as a widget for iBooks Author. So in this tutorials we will convert the previous gallery widget project to a Hype template. The project turned out so well that I decided to create more. In a previous Hype for iBooks Author tutorial, we built an image gallery with interactive buttons and animated transitions. Although there are slight differences in the use of these terms between software, the basic definition does not change.
